J. Edgar Film Review

Last week I went to see "J. Edgar" by myself. Literally!

I was the only person in the whole theatre so right off the bat I figured this movie was gonna suck.  Just as I started to appreciate my solitude, a portly middle aged couple arrived and sat right next to me. I was annoyed by this breach of my personal space but what could I do? The three of us watched the film and here I am a week later feeling compelled to write a review.

"J. Edgar" Entertained but I would not watch it again. Its sort of forgettable, kind of like 2009's "Public Enemies" which I felt had so much potential but failed to peak my interest.

Jeffrey Donovan as Bobby Kennedy

The casting and acting in "J. Edgar" is perfect, its actually pretty funny seeing Leonardo playing a 77 year old man or Jeffrey Donovan (the guy from that show "Burn Notice") in a memorable cameo as Bobby Kennedy. The film captures the character of J. Edgar Hoover. It is just too bad that he was such a strange and unlikable guy.  I found myself rooting against him for most of the film.

If you want a history lesson with plenty of wierd quirks, go see "J. Edgar."

If not, save your money and wait until its on Netflix.

I give "J. Edgar" a 5 out of 10 on my Entertainment Rating Scale.
