Dale The Angry Radio Guy

Last year in late September I traveled to Indiana where I have traveled many times in recent years to work on a film project. This was a fun project because I got to create all of the scenes without the other actors voice and without any of the music or visuals added in post. This project was a big lesson in blocking for me. I must say that these folks at Valiant Dead LLC really did a fine job with the lighting on this project. I went to college for radio and this was a fun role to do. It's funny I had a short stint working for a CBS station before I became disillusioned with the world of radio broadcasting and began to pursue Acting instead which has now led me to playing an angry ham radio operator.
Kudos to James Treakle, and Valiant Dead LLC on a great job with this project Enjoy.

Inside the Struggling Actor's Studio

I know it's late but let's spend the night together. It is at times like these where I grow confused. Not able to sleep, not really awake, it's like what the fuck am I doing. Things are especially weird today because some worker dudes are coming over at 8 in the morning to replace my entire bathroom which has not been renovated since about 1902. Unbelievable I know. So my first thought is should I go to sleep now and just see what happens when I wake up or should I stay up writing for a long while? Not sure exactly but seems like the words are flowing at a decent rate so for now let's keep this party going. A paragraph is just a party of letters and words. I cannot remember the last time I remembered a dream. How about you? In other news I sit here and take stock of the things that I have.... To Be Honest... I am truly happy with my life. I almost seem to have found everything I have ever wanted. It's time to move forward and create new challenges and break new plateau's. Exciting things on the horizon for your pal Dale. Tomorrow night on of the short film's I had the pleasure of starring in over the past year "She Loves Me Not" will be screening at the Indie Incubator Film Festival held at 26 west Division in the heart of Chicago's GoldCoast at the original Mother's. Seeing as how I found out about this just last night I am pretty excited. I have never viewed the film in a room full of strangers and I would love to see peoples reactions. It's crazy to think that just a year ago I was working on "SLMN" with my pals from Versa Independent Productions and I was all like "oh how exciting I have a role." Where as now I have a full roles I'm working on and I can feel improvement in my performances. I have done my share of bad projects over the year but in reality you have to make mistakes to keep the ball rolling. I almost prefer the phrase "keep the ball bouncing" as I am an avid basketball fan but whatever "keep the ball rolling" really rolls off the tongue a lot better. Now the question becomes "What is gonna be the breakout role?" Something tells me I may need to get away from the independent film world and really begin to pursue agencies. I need representation. The talent is there. This weekend I am playing this really great boyfriend named...well actually I probably can't say too much about it yet but I think this is gonna be one of the best roles yet. I am very happy with life. Let's see what other post's we can whip up tonight. BTW here is a link to "She Loves Me Not."

Higher Ground

I recently decided that I much prefer the Red Hot Chili Peppers rendition of "Higher Ground" to the original version performed by Mr. Stevey Wonder. Something about the bass and drums really does it for me. Stevey's version is very very good but I am gonna have to stick with The Chili Peppers. The lyrics of the song are so uplifting but I don't have them memorized like I do with most songs I like, with this one I prefer to just hum along with the melody and imitate the vowel sounds. As I mentioned previously in a post called "Music Addiction" there is a cycle of musical addiction that I experience after discovering or rediscovering a good song. The song seems to have taken over the last two days so far. I am playing on YouTube repeatedly and jamming out excessively. "Higher Ground" is used a lot in movies as a inspirational soundtrack device. In "The Pursuit of Happyness" starring Will Smith the Stevey Wonder version is used and works well. The Red Hot Chili Pepper's version of "Higher Ground" is used to great effect in the responsibility montage in the Jason Bateman, Ryan Reynolds vehicle "The Change Up." I have decided that if you put this song on and just sit at a computer typing, it makes you look really productive. It sure as hell feels productive to me. In closing I am gearing up to work at the 2013 Chicago Auto Show where I will likely be standing for most of the day listening to this song all day in full mental clarity. Bloggers, Keep On Blogging!

Super Lyrical

Lyrically I’m like an athletic freak when I write
So I’m tight at open mics that I frequent at night
When I speak on the mic  in a beacon of light
I’m kinda weird and i'm white but still keeping it hype
I need a miller lite! When I step off stages
Take a seat at the bar with some hot babes and write pages
I’m writin bars at bars with with local rap stars
I’m writin bars at barbeques with dudes in my back yard
Cuz art work pays off take no days off
Work hard play soft smoke weed, play golf
I often stop at coffee shops to sit and jot
I get lost in thought with the ink I blot
I sit and think a lot high off decent pot
I never creep or stop whether I sleep or not
I think this coffee drink I got is freaking hot
Lyrically on a streak that can never be stopped

Desk Pains

No rest no stressing me I sit at my desk endlessly
Writing till my left hand bleeds but no reflex tendency
Then and now I plow and foul I howl and scowl then smoke a white owl
every now the then I have friends who pretend at the end they can bend
With two hands they wont lend send a chill down your spine
When I’m in the lime it’s a fine wine cuz it grows with time
I write till my left hand bleeds at my desk I never rest
I’m like a slob with a vest on my chest but I’m the best
In the worst way I’m constantly thirsty
I wish there were tits containing beer that could nurse me
Vanilla or Hershey but no controversy
A titties a titty so there is no worry
Sometimes I get blurry
Get down and get dirty
I think that its early but its clearly 1230
Can be so self serving its raw and unnerving
So cruel and deserving for the gruel they be serving
Is that Michael Irvin in cars see him swerving
Its magic like Irvin its tragic like working
He found a cure for aids I need a cure for jerking the monster is lurking
Just sneaking and stirring incurring the wrath
I need a bath and half plus a joke and laugh

The Eternal Question

the pain and the greed the need for green weed
so hungry and dazed if i ever get blazed
but to settle a score for once and for all
would you rather have weed or adderall
now weed indeed is off the wall
but what about the adderall
it makes me want to clean and grind
so anxious i could lose my mind
but one for all the rest of time
to pop a pill or smoke a dime?
to rip a bong or snort a line?
but wait a minute kindly folks
Now Ive been known to tell some jokes
of prescription pills and taking tokes
now what if it was all a hoax
that there is only one
when there is two theres twice to do
both weed and adderrall for you
so you can balance out the hits
with crushing up and taking sniffs
each one is yours these treasured gifts
now have a beer and take some sips

Big Flats Be True To Yourself

A few months ago some guests and I donned costumes in preparation for the delicate art of advertising.  You see we wanted to make a short commercial for one of our favorite cheap beers, perhaps even the greatest of all cheap beers. It's called Big Flats. Its brewed by Walgreen's I guess. The Best part is that it only costs $2.99 for a whole six pack. We bought like twenty six six packs. and then went to work on the filming of our commercial. It went great with the help of some friends but tragedy struck when I accidentally deleted all of our priceless footage. Unfortunately I have to report that the footage is lost forever. But in its stead we ended up recording a much shittier version of the original commercial idea. In the version you will see below it should be quite apparent to you that our entire cast and crew is inebriated to the point of no return. Please Drink Responsibly and enjoy the Show.

We are in no way affiliated with Big Flats in any official sense. It's just cheap beer for guys with no money looking to party.

Brother Man

You can't stay on the farm forever. Eventually it's time to wake up and take your act to the city for a real evaluation. My brother tells me the best way to start fresh is to take a shower.
When we arrived at the hotel on orchard street. We ordered enough room service for ten people (we have been watching way to much man vs food lately) and ate enough for about 2 people.
We walked over to the lake and told ourselves that today was gonna be different. Today we were gonna find out the real us, the inner us, the redeemed, the finally ready to be taught inner sage in all of us. We sat there listening to the lake and reading important books for nearly seven hours.
Afterward we both felt more important prompting us to make reservations at a fancy restaurant. After the very sultry and polite host seated us we ate a salad before leaving early.
My Brother told me that he felt bad for the host because every time she seated someone they would eventually leave. I told him that eventually everybody has to leave so that there are seats available.
He nodded his head and we walked  for many miles of urban landscape before stopping at a local coffee bar to see if they had any coffee that was imported from other places. They did not like us very much.
My Brother who always tells people what he thinks about them threatened to burn down the local coffee place.
As we fled the scene this homeless guy stumbled out of an alley way and told us that "The same shit that happened to John Q happened to me." I'm not sure why but my Brother stabbed the homeless guy and we fled to Panama City Florida. How are things going for you back home?

Cheery Point Part 1

I have a small role in an Independent film currently shooting on location in Kentucky. It's called "Cheery Point." Cheery Point takes place in an alternate future where the U.S. has been bombed and only sixteen states remain in the union. The story concerns the life of one man named Joshua Barrett who resides in the fictional town of Cheery Point. As a means of nullifying the mass amounts of panic and suffering the government issues a bill making it mandatory for all citizens to consume Torpase a fictional drug that renders the user completely void of any pain or emotion. Most Everyone in Cheery Point works for the T.D.D. The Torpase Distribution Division. Joshua's job is to take pictures of dead Springers (rebels who refuse Torpase and openly show emotion, an offense punishable by death. I play Sam the Torpase Delivery Man who is somewhat like a milkman or postman in his look and manner. Joshua is kidnapped by the leader of the Springers and there you have the beginnings of what will be an epic film due out this summer. Check out the site for Cheery Point. Here are some stills of me as Sam.

Please Help us finish this film by providing a charitable donation toward our cause. I am about to head down to Kentucky to finish our last week of filming. I will let you know how it goes. Wish me luck.
